(Which is much faster than you think)Let’s get the bad news out of the way first. Floriduh is a RED STATE. So is Monroe County. We could balance that out a bit if we change to Single Member District voting for County Commission. Just sayin’!We make it work in Key West. Just sayin.’Now the good news. Democracy Won! The American people saved the day.According to the New York Times at 11 pm Saturday night.- “After a defeat in Nevada, every election denier who tried to become top election official in a battleground state has lost at the polls!”According to the Washington Post, Saturday – “All five ballot measures on abortion during the midterms resulted in losses for the forced-birth crowd. The power of women voters is not to be underestimated. That might have far-reaching consequences for years to come as Republicans continue to defend overwhelmingly unpopular abortion bans.”However, it is not all Sunshine and happy faces. Here is a snippet from Steve Schmidt’s Nov. 12 edition of The Warning: “Candidates won and lost on Tuesday night. The “red wave” turned into one more Fox News delusion and one more example of NYT’s errant political predictions and obtuseness around what is happening in America. In fact, most news organizations have failed to properly analyze the most important outcome of the 2022 election: Donald Trump is finished.Seven long years have passed since Donald Trump descended an escalator in Trump Tower, and nearly wrecked American society. His rise revealed corruption, hypocrisy, decay, immorality, arrogance, self-interest, and rot throughout the whole of American society. He was a product of brokenness and evidence of a great national sickness. In the end, it was the American people who ended the madness from which the American media and business community made billions, while simultaneously stoking and ignoring.”Nationally, the Democrats shut down the Red Wave. But we are not done. If you have time and want to help Warnock in the Georgia Senate Run-off, here is something you can do:Postcards and Letter Writing to voters to support Rev. Warnock for Senate https://www.mobilize.us/browardforprogress/event/543504/Call Voters in Georgia to support Rev. Unlike Kennedy, Biden has not demonstrated the ability to inspire. Unlike Roosevelt, in particular, Biden does not display jaunty optimism or possess the magic gift to forge an emotional connection through the sound of his voice. Biden, instead, is more like Harry Truman – a long-time Senator, who ascended to power at a time of national crises. At his best, Biden offers calm competence. Which is why, top White House officials should stop overhyping Biden as a modern-day Roosevelt. Instead, they should honestly portray Biden as a good man – like Truman, and unlike Trump – doing his best in terrible times.” Walter Shapiro in The New Republic[/av_textblock]
