Armchair Activists - Get Ready
This alert is quick and easy, one phone call!
We are in the last few days of this 2023 Legislative Session. There were many good bills that were never heard, but one good bill that passed the House resoundingly with bipartisan support and simply needs to be placed on the Senate calendar for a floor vote this week is HJR 131 Recall of County Commissioners. This bill, which started out as a grassroots initiative from citizens of a few non-charter counties, would give all Florida voters the opportunity to decide whether approximately 6 million citizens in Florida's 47 non-charter counties deserve the same rights afforded those in the 20 charter counties to start an arduous recall election process to remove corrupt county officials. At its core, this bill seeks fairness among all Florida voters, no matter what county they call home.
The only person who has the ultimate power to schedule HJR 131 for a hearing in the Senate is the President of the Senate, Senator Kathleen Passidomo. Please contact her today at Office of Senate President - The Florida Senate (flsenate.gov) or call her office at (850) 487-5229 and ask her to do that. If this bill is not heard in the Senate, it will die this year and may not be heard again next year.
Thank you,
Jean Siebenaler
