Affirmative Action for Citizens
Good morning Democrats,
I promised you more information and an assignment. Here it is, so get your calendars out (ok, your smart phone calendar) and start making notes.
Did you know that school starts on August 10? That gives us about 10 days to fill up our various collection sites with supplies for the United Teachers of Monroe to share with the students who need them. Pencils, pens, notebooks, crayons, binders and backpacks. Many stores have this stuff on sale right now so grab some when you go shopping and drop off at the site closest to you:
In Key West – 1616 Trinidad Dr. on Thursdays from 3-6pm and Saturdays from 9am-noon.
Sugarloaf Key – drop your donations in the Lobby of the Sugarloaf Lodge, MM17, US#1.
Big Pine Key – donations can be dropped under the house at 29547 Saratoga Ave., Big Pine Key
Marathon – at the UPS Store, 5409 Overseas Hwy
Key Colony Beach – drop under the house at 620 9th St. There will be a large trash can available.
We got a bunch of good news this week….
#1. The Big Lie has got a court date with the Big Liar. I will miss seeing him marched into court today. KARMA!
#2. The Floriduh Fascist is tanking in the polls. He even looks pained when he tries to smile.
I hope you have been attending (virtually or in-person) some local government meetings. If yes, I really would love you to come to the next DEMS Meeting in your area and share what you learned. Here are the meetings for August:
Lower Keys/Key West – 2nd Tuesday – August 8
Middle Keys/Marathon – 4th Thursday – August 24
Upper Keys/Key Largo – 3rd Wednesday August 16
We are currently running a phone bank to remind voters to update their Vote by Mail requests. If you can help, email Suzie Trost at susietrost@gmail.com Thanks!
As we prepare for our next election cycle, we will need to raise money. We have lots of ways to do that and we do try to have some fun. Again, mark your calendar:
Sunday Sept. 10 – Jazz in the Garden
Key West’s best Jazz Musicians will entertain us with some HOT JAZZ as we sip cool drinks in the lovely poolside gardens at the Gardens Hotel in Key West. You can get your ticket now or wait for the invite to some in a separate email.

Thursday Oct. 5 – Sunset Sail on the Argo Navis

Check out our newly updated website! It is live now although we are still updating a few things. There is a green donate button in the top left corner of the home page - https://www.keysdems.com/
Or you can click on this link and pick a donation level that works for you https://www.keysdems.com/join
Have you ever seen the Florida Report Card? It is a website that ranks our State Elected Officials by how they voted – for people or special interests. Check it out: https://floridareportcard.com/
The only way we are going to stop the Grand Wizard of Floriduh is to elect more Democrats.
The only way we are going to stop the erosion of our Democracy is to elect more Democrats nationally. And I mean True Democrats. Not lip service, lying politicians.
We want good government, not self-serving power-hungry talking heads.
Democrats are not perfect – but the other side has gone over the edge. Let’s work to improve our side and get some good folks elected.
We must also find common ground with other voters. When given the opportunity, try listening.
Your country needs you. NOW!
Let’s get to work!
